CLINICAL ASSESMENT AND INTERVENTIONS IN PSYCHOLOGICAL HEALTH en
Description
This course aims to deepen understanding and expand the students’ knowledge regarding the theory and practice of clinical psychology, with a focus on psychological assessment and formulation as well as on the main psychological interventions in common psychological difficulties that clinical psychologists work with. More specifically, the main processes implicated in psychological assessment are presented, with a focus on clinical interview. Also, the main principles of psychological formulation are discussed, as well as the role of formulation in designing and assessing the outcome of psychological interventions, and the differences of formulation from psychiatric diagnosis. Next, the focus will turn on the common difficulties treated by clinical psychologists (sadness and worry, eating problems, psychoses and personality disorders) and the main psychological theories and psychotherapeutic approaches to these difficulties are discussed. Finally, the research literature on the outcome of different psychological therapies is discussed.
