QUALITATIVE RESEARCH IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY en
Description
The course offers an introduction to the principles and practices of qualitative research in clinical psychology. Students are introduced to the main methods of data collection and analysis in qualitative research, and the way in which these have been applied to research in the fields of mental health and psychotherapy. Examples of studies in the field of clinical psychology are presented and discussed, so that students understand the contribution of qualitative methodologies in studying issues pertaining to clinical practice.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course students will:
•Be familiar with the main data collection and analysis methods used in qualitative research
•Be able to design a qualitative study in the field of clinical psychology
•Be able to apply some methods of qualitative analysis of clinical material
•Understand how different methodological approaches have been applied to research in mental health and psychotherapy
•Know about ethical issues of conducting research in clinical psychology
•Be aware of issues pertaining to epistemology, ethics and quality in qualitative clinical research
