Psychology of Language I (Introduction) en
Description
Definition of the psychology of language. Development of language ability and communication in humans and animals. Linguistic components (phonology, syntax, semantics) and their relationship to other cognitive functions (memory, learning). Basic theoretical models of human speech, writing, discourse and sign language. Basic language disorders observed in children and adults.
Learning outcomes
Students who have successfully completed the course are expected to a) acquire knowledge of the concepts and theoretical models of the psychology of language b) understand the evolution of language c) acquire knowledge of the meaning of the linguistic components, i.e., phonology, syntax, semantics d) will comprehend the importance of the linguistic research and clinical practice e) will become famililiar with the basic language disorders in children and adults
