Description
In the context of this unit, students are expected to acquire knowledge and deepen their understanding of human development (cognitive, emotional, social, and personality development) from middle childhood to the silver years. Developmental trajectories, mechanisms of change and milestones in each field will be discussed within key theoretical frameworks, based on current methodological approaches and research findings, as well as in relation to different contexts of development (family, school, workplace, sociocultural environment).
Learning outcomes
By the end of the unit, a student will be able:
• to describe basic aspects of development, milestones, as well as mechanisms of change regarding cognitive, emotional, social, and personality development from middle childhood to the silver years
• to critically approach relevant theoretical frameworks and research evidence and think creatively on their basis
