EXPERIMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY OF SMELL AND TASTE en
Description
The course aims at familiarizing students with research in the field of the chemical senses of olfaction and gustation. Subjects related to psychology of olfaction and gustation, development of olfactory function, measurement of olfactory function and ability, development and measurement of gustative function are examined. Moreover, individual differences in olfaction and gustation, changes in olfaction and gustation during lifespan development and aging, and relationships between cognitive functions and chemical senses are also discussed. Furthermore, olfactory function in cognitively pathological aging, disorders of olfaction and gustation, and neurodegenerative diseases associated with chemosensory impairment are examined.
Learning outcomes
On completing this course students should be able to do the following:
1. acquire and use knowledge about the chemical senses of olfaction and gustation and their psychological aspects.
2. be involved in psychophysiological assessment and evaluation of olfactory and gustatory functions
